Allen E Lorenz, 81 of Manistee passed away peacefully at Munson Health Care Manistee Hospital, Thursday morning, March 17, 2022 following a brief illness.

He was born July 21, 1940 in Manistee, the son of the late Harlan F. and Carol (Lopnow) Lorenz.  He was a 1959 graduate of Samuel C. Mumford High School in Detroit. On July 10, 1965 he was united in marriage to Judy Marie Cochran, who preceded him in death on April 16, 1998.

He lived in Livonia for many years, where he was a master carpenter, returning to Manistee following retirement.  He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Manistee and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America – Local UBC00687 of Detroit.

Allen is survived by his daughter, Audra (James) Wood and by grandchildren Nicholas, Kyle and Kayla, all of Florida, by his brother Harlan (Mary Louise) Lorenz of Farmington, MI, by sisters Jean Bowe of Grayson, KY and Emmy (Denis) Johnson of Manistee and by numerous nieces and nephews.

No services are being planned at this time.  His body will be buried next to his wife at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

The family suggests that those wanting to remember Allen are asked to consider a gift in his memory to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee.
