Barbara Marie (Niemierowicz) Parr, age 84 of Manistee, MI died peacefully late Sunday evening August 28, 2016 at West Shore Medical Center following a short illness. She was born July 22, 1932 in Manistee, MI, daughter of the late John A. & Martha (Szpliett) Niemierowicz. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School in Manistee. Barb married Glen W. Parr on April 28, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2002. Prior to her marriage Barb was employed as an operator at Michigan Bell Telephone Company. Barb enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband and children. She dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a selfless love and lived by the example of Christ, caring for her daughter JoAnn for the last 14 years even in her own health struggles. Barb died just one day after the funeral Mass for her JoAnn. Her kindheartedness and compassion extended beyond her commitment to her family as she was also an attentive volunteer of the West Shore Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary. She was a faithful and lifelong member of the Catholic Community of Manistee (St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Shrine Church) and a member of the Altar Society at St. Mary's Church.

She is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Susan & Terry Goldberg of Grand Haven, MI and Linda & Daniel Cunningham of Portage, MI; 1 son & daughter-in-law, Allen & Dawn Parr of Grand Rapids, MI; 6 grandchildren, Michael and Jacob Goldberg, Paige and Gregory Parr and Sophia and Luke Cunningham. Numerous nieces & nephews also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glen; daughter JoAnn Parr on August 12, 2016; 2 brothers & 1 sister-in-law: Clarence Niemierowicz and Harry & Rita Niemierowicz and 1 sister & brother-in-law, Phyllis & Leonard Chmielewski and her niece-in-law, Bonnie Chmielewski.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and Mass from The Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee with Reverend Scott Lawler celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee. The family will be at the church one hour prior to her funeral Mass to receive friends.

A memorial has been established in Barb's name for the West Shore Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and also available at the church on Friday.
