Bill Edward Placek Jr, age 67 of Grant Township, MI died unexpectedly at his home Monday, November 14, 2016. He was born May 19, 1949 in Detroit, MI, son of Helen (Perich) and the late Bill Edward Placek Sr. He was a graduate of Allen Park High School with the Class of 1967. He attended Eastern Michigan University earning his bachelor's degree and post-baccalaureate teacher certification. Bill married Pamela A. Miller on December 20, 1986 in Grosse Pointe. Bill had a positive impact on the lives of many students being a dedicated high school English teacher and football coach. He was employed with the South Lyon Public School System for 32 years until his retirement in 2004. Bill's best friend was his father and together they enjoyed treasure diving, sailing and fishing in the Florida Keys and hunting in northern Michigan. Bill was an avid hunter enjoying both bow and firearm seasons. He had a great love for football, being a loyal fan of the Detroit Lions. Soon after being married Bill and Pam began building their retirement home in Northern Michigan. They also enjoyed wintering on Pine Island in Florida where he spent a lot of time ocean fishing. Bill was a very caring individual. He had a strong patriotism for his country as he took pride in displaying the American flag. His kindness and concern extended beyond the love for his family and friends and was exemplified in his commitment to his students and athletes. Bills kindheartedness, generosity and selflessness is reflective of his true spirit. Prior to his death, Bill was a registered organ donor. He has continued to love and give to those he didn't even know by offering the ultimate gift of organ donation. His altruism will live on and help others live through his Gift of Life Organ Donation. Bills dedication to his family and friends was a guiding factor though out his life. He will be greatly missed by all lucky enough to have known him and his presence will be long felt.

Bill is survived by his wife Pamela; his mother, Helen Placek of Bellville, MI; his brother, Bruce (Peggy) Placek of Daytona Beach, FL; his sister Maryann (Patrick) Mullahy of Bellville, MI; his nieces & nephews, Heather (Greg) Ellet, Eric Placek, Kelly Junis, Jeffrey Donnelly, Melanie (Louie) Juco, Mindy (Geoff) Prysak and Jennie Miller; great nieces & nephews, Lee Juco, Justin Juco, Lydia Prysak, Cash Donnelly, Emma Prysak and Julius Juco; brother-in-law, Mark Junis; sister-in-law, Debbie (Jim) Donnelly and brother-law, Jim (Margie) Miller.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill E. Placek Sr. and his sister, Barbara Junis.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 19, 2016 their home with Rev. John Brown officiating.
