Obituary

Carol Gorney, of Manistee, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Carol was born in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Blanche Speck. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and the heart of her family. She lived a life defined by kindness, compassion, and selfless love, always placing the needs of those she loved before her own.

Throughout her life, Carol worked for several businesses in the Manistee area, where she was known for her dedication, strong work ethic, and friendly nature. She made lasting friendships wherever she went and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Carol enjoyed bowling, quilting, and the occasional trip to the casino. She treasured the friendships she made, the memories she created, and the love she stitched into every quilt.

One of Carol's greatest gifts was her compassion for others. She was always willing to help those who were less fortunate, never hesitating to offer her time, support, or kindness whenever it was needed. Her quiet generosity and caring spirit touched the lives of many.

In April, Carol and her beloved husband, Ron, celebrated 60 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love, unwavering commitment, and the life they built together. Their six decades of marriage were filled with cherished memories, deep devotion, and the joy of raising a loving family.

She is survived by her beloved husband Ron Gorney and their three children, Amy Stege (George), Janie Tubito (Darren), and Joseph Gorney, along with her cherished grandchildren; her brother, Jack Speck; as well as extended family and many dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Carol will be remembered for her gentle spirit, warm smile, unwavering strength, and the unconditional love she shared with everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love, generosity, and devotion to her family will continue to live on in our hearts and lives of all those she touched.

While her presence will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the memories they shared and knowing that her love will remain with them always.

In keeping with Carol's wishes, the family will not be holding funeral or memorial services. They are grateful for the love, prayers, and support they have received and ask that Carol be remembered in your thoughts.
