Cindy Leah Burson, age 64, of Kaleva, MI died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, April 28, 2021 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.  She was born Oct. 9, 1956 in Frankfort.  She married Kevin M. Burson on May 16, 1998 in Manistee.  Cindy was good-natured and an "old soul".  She was simply just happy to be alive.  She enjoyed thrift shopping and yard sales.  Cindy cherished nature's beauty and wildlife.  She loved animals, especially her beloved pets, "Monkey" "Sox" and "Sassy".  She enjoyed camping and spending time at the beach or just taking a ride.  She was an avid collector of wolves and eagles.  Cindy was laidback and even tempered.  She enjoyed 420 celebrations and spending time with her family and friends.  She was outgoing and accepting to help others feel comfortable. Cindy and her husband Kevin shared many unforgettable moments inspired by their appreciation for Rock music.  Slow dancing with her husband was one of her favorite activities that brought her the most joy.

Cindy is survived by her husband Kevin; sons, David and Derrick; daughters, Lisa and Stacy; 11 Grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; her adoptive mother, June (Pete) Somsel; her siblings, Richard, Ronald (Lori) and Linda; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; her favorite cousin Pam, close friends, Lisa Magmer and Patty Mihalik also survive her.  Her pets, "Monkey", "Sox" and "Sassy" also absorb her loss.

She was preceded in death by her birth parents, Ike & Virginia (Harkness) Welch; her adoptive father, Earl Cone; granddaughter Makayla and siblings, Harold, Terry, Joyce, Kathy and Patty.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 7, 2021 at Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee with Pastor Joyce Newman officiating.  The family will be at the funeral home on Friday morning to receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service. The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
