Dorothy Helen Holmes age, 94 of Manistee, Michigan, began her eternal life on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility in Manistee.

Dorothy was born December 11, 1930 in Manistee, Michigan to Stephen and Ethel (Nadiger) Kuczynski. She was a graduate of Manistee High School with the Class of 1949. Dorothy married Clarence H. Holmes on November 7, 1953 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. They spent fifty- four years together, before Clarence's death on April 1, 2008. Dorothy was employed at the J.J. Newberry Store, Adams Paper Mill, and the Falleen Drop Forge Company. Her most recent position, was with the Michigan Employment Security Comision until her retirement. Dorothy was a member of Divine Mercy Parish (Saint Joseph Catholic Church) of Manistee, and the Divine Mercy Rosary Society. She was a member and past president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #10 and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1128 both of Manistee. Dorothy was the Matriarch of the family. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, visiting with friends and family and taking an occasional trip to the casino. She was always available to help her family, if needed.

She is survived by her "God Child" Jane (James) Fett of Manistee, and many loving, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Clarence, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Ethel, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jennie (Anderson) and Claus Holmes, sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys and Edward Wandrych , Marie and Raymond Janowiak, Edith and Ken Steinberg, Arlene and John Zielinski, her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Irene Kuczynski, brothers, David, Donald, and Edward Kuczynski, her brother's -in-law and sister's-in-law, Noble and Hedwig Holmes, Howard and Hilda Fenton, Jack and Grace Harvey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 3, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee with Reverend James Bearss celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery also in Manistee.

Relatives, friends and the members of the St. Joseph Rosary Society will pray the rosary at 11:00 AM, at the church on Monday morning. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday morning, from 9:30 AM until the funeral mass at 11:30 AM.

Memorials in Dorothy's memory, may be directed to the American Lung Association, Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the Divine Mercy Parish Matthew 25:35 Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the church on Monday, morning. The Herbert Funeral home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
