Dorothy Jean (Williams) Peterson, age 101, of Manistee, Michigan died Sunday, December 28, 2025 at the Big Rapids Fields Assisted Living in Big Rapids, Michigan. She was born on November 9, 1924 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma daughter of the late Robert and Laura (Whaley) Williams. Dorothy lived a long life, that included attending college to receive her nursing degree, she served in the United States Army, as a First Lieutenant for two years and eleven months. She married Donald Peterson on July 1, 1956 and they had three children, she then was a stay-at-home mom, to raise her children. Together Donald and Dorothy were members of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #250 of Manistee, where she helped with deserts every week.

She is survived by her children, Carol (Peterson) Steinberg, Terri Peterson, Robert and Nancy Peterson, her grandchildren, Thomas Kolk, Amy Hodgson, Justin William Peterson, Jason Steinberg, Brooke and Scott Koller, Lindsay and Joe McIntyre, Nick and Jenna Stulz all of Manistee, Jason Stulz and Sonia Malone of South Royalton, Vermont, her great grandchildren, Jayden Kolk, Lukas Kolk, Elexis Fisk, Emily Steinberg, Abby and Alex Ellis, Scout and Dafne Yafne, Zephyr Stulz, Evelyn, Eloise, Charles and Jack Koller, Owen and Brady McIntyre and Aguer Akot and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald J. Peterson, her parents, Robert and Laura Williams, her son-in-law Kevin Steinberg and her great granddaughter Avery Ray McIntryre.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place in the summer of 2026 with burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
