Dorothy J. Quinn-Smith, and 85 of Manistee, MI died Thursday morning, February 25, 2016 at her home after an extended battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

She was born on March 10, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan daughter of the late Wallace & Elsie Quinn. She was a graduate of Immaculata High School with the class of     1948. Dorothy was a Recreational Therapist with the State of Michigan for her working career retiring in 1990. She married Thomas E. Smith at Guardian Angels Catholic Church on May 13, 2001. Prior to marrying Thomas, she was married to Hazen Wellman and had four daughters. She was a member of the Catholic Community of Manistee. She was an active choir member at all three of the catholic churches in Manistee and was also a cantor and lector.

She is survived by her husband: Thomas Smith of Manistee, MI, four daughters; Gwenyth Wellman of Caledonia Ontario, Canada, Gayle (Richard) Rowden of Commerce, MI, Lynda (Edward) Brennan of Clarkston, MI and Dorothy (Jeffrey) Barr of Lakeville, MN, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren and her step-son, Thomas E. Smith Jr. of Novi, MI.

According to Dorothy's wishes cremation has taken place and Mass from The Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday March 2, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee with Reverend Peter Wigton Celebrant. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan. The family will be at the church 2 hours prior to her funeral Mass to receive friends. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Dorothy's name for the Alzheimer's Association Greater Michigan Chapter. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and will be available at the church on Wednesday.
