Obituary

Edwin (Ed) O. Diekow passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at his home.  He was 73 years old.

Ed was born on March 15, 1951 to Edwin and Betty (Arkin) Diekow in Manistee, MI.  On April 27, 1973 he married the former Faye A. Bradford at the Church of the Brethren in Onekama, MI.

He graduated from Onekama High School, with the class of 1969. He worked at Tom's Arco in Onekama during his high school years continuing there until the end of 1972.   He worked at Martin Marietta in Manistee until he was forced to end his employment due to a disability.  Most recently he was employed at Arcadia Bluffs.

Ed loved to meet people and never met anyone that he couldn't start a conversation with.  Often these conversations would last a half hour or more, much to the dismay of his wife.  Ed also loved to spend time in his workshop where he enjoyed making wood furniture for his kids and tinkering with whatever he could find.

Ed is survived by his wife Faye of 51 years, daughter Brenda (Larry) MacLeod, son Eddie Diekow, grandson Jackson MacLeod, granddaughter Emma (David) McCurdy, great grandson Calvin McCurdy, Aunt Jean Kenny, his in-law's, Christy (Jim) Skiera, Connie (Roger) Greiner, Irving Bradford, Penny Gilmore, and his sidekick Lucy, his beloved cat. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Betty Diekow, his infant brother, Douglas, his sister Sherry Wagoner and by his father in-law and mother in-law, Irving and Dolores (Crandall) Bradford.

A celebration of Ed's life will take place at Noon, Saturday, December 14, 2024 at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, one hour prior to the celebration of life.
