Obituary

Our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and sister, Gayle Michelle Patmon, born on September 28, 1967, to Adam and Gail Shaw in Port Huron, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 2, 2025, in Manistee, Michigan.

As a child, Gayle's family relocated to Saginaw, Michigan, where she spent most of her growing-up years and attended Saginaw High School.  She married Paris R. Patmon on September 23, 2005 in Lucas County, Ohio.  In 2010, they made their home in Manistee, Michigan, where she continued building a life full of love, strength, and community.

Lovingly known as "Mama Gayle," she lived a life defined by deep love, unwavering loyalty, and a fierce devotion to family—both the one she was born into and the many she gathered along the way. If you knew her, chances are she mothered you at some point. Her wisdom, her hugs, and her no-nonsense advice were legendary, earning her the cherished title "Mama Gayle" from all who were lucky enough to know her.

Gayle had a green thumb and a gambler's sparkle—whether she was nurturing her beloved plants, chasing a bingo jackpot, or working her magic in the kitchen, she did it all with joy and heart. Cooking was one of her greatest love languages, and she fed people not just with food, but with warmth and soul. She was a hardworking, dedicated woman who always made time to listen, encourage, and uplift those around her. Her legacy is rooted in love, generosity, and the strength she gave so freely.

She was preceded in death by her father Adam Shaw, her mother Gail Shaw, her brother Don Kingsbury, and her precious granddaughter Blessence Gilchrist.

Gayle is survived by her loving husband, Paris R. Patmon; her daughters, Crystal Shaw and Mary Carpenter; her bonus children, Paris Patmon II, Jalletta (Kevin) King, Janel Patmon, Donte Houston, and Tameisha (Drevion Sr.) Roberson; and her granddaughter, Justice Smith-Barton, along with her many bonus grandchildren who affectionately called her "GiGi." She also leaves behind her siblings Mary Shaw and Charles (Jennice) Shaw; her brother-in-law Eugene (Christina) Sharp; sister-in-law April Patmon; and mother-in-law Eleanor Sharp.

Gayle's impact extends far beyond her immediate family. She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will carry her memory and spirit forward with pride and love.

Her departure leaves an empty chair at the table, but her presence will forever be felt in our hearts. Rest well, Mama Gayle—you were truly one of a kind.
