Gene A. Corey, age 70 of Manistee, MI died Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at his home after a short Illness.

He was born on March 3, 1953 in Benzonia, Michigan son of Charles and Jessie (Baker) Corey.

During his lifetime, Gene has lived in several different cities in the state of Michigan until settling in Manistee about 10 years ago.  He attended the Mason County ISD and was employed with Dimensions Unlimited in Ludington, MI.  He enjoyed listening to music and dancing. Gene was a member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians.

Gene is survived by a sister, Norma Hinkle of Manistee, MI, a brother and sister in-law, Leonard and Karlin Corey of Beulah, MI, two sisters-in-law, Linda Corey of Manistee, MI and Mary Corey of Beulah, MI.  Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles and John Corey and a brother-in-law David Hinkle.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee with Reverend Laurie A. Willis officiating. Cremation will follow the service, with final internment in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Interlochen, Michigan, with his parents.

Visitation for family and friends will be at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee on Saturday, two hours prior to the funeral service.
