Geneva A. Stewart, age 86 of Manistee, MI was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior on June 25, 2015. She left this earth peacefully and now rests in the loving arms of our heavenly Father.

She was born on February 13, 1929 in Hollandale, Mississippi daughter of the late Alec & Lora (Dixon) Thomas. She married James "L.C." Stewart on December 22, 1949. He preceded her in death on December 6, 2005. They lived in Caruthersville, Missouri where together they raised their family. In 1966, they moved north to Manistee and have resided here ever since. Geneva has had many jobs during her lifetime. She worked in the cotton fields as a young lady, was an exceptional seamstress, was an aid at the school where her children attended and also worked at Stokleys in Ludington. She was a member of Faith Covenant Church of Manistee. Her biggest job by far was raising her children whom she loved unconditionally.

Geneva is survived by two daughters: Bobbie Jones and Dorothy A. Stewart, nine sons: Leroy Mayfield, John H. (Catherine) Donald, James C. (J.C.) (Donna) Stewart, James E. (Vicki) Stewart, Joe E. Stewart, Don L. (Dawn) Stewart, Johnnie Stewart, Sherman D.(Terra) Stewart and Charles Stewart. She was blessed by generations of beautiful grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren who will miss her daily.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents and husband by two sisters and one brother.

Funeral Services for Geneva will be held on Friday July 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Covenant Church at 475 Eighth Street in Manistee with Reverend Marc Eix officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Freesoil Michigan.

The family will receive friends at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee on Thursday evening, July 2, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., and also at the church on Friday morning one hour prior to the funeral service.
