George "Dick" Tarnowski age 86 of Wellston, Michigan died Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Munson Hospice House in Traverse City, Michigan. He was born on November 7, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan and was the son of the late George E. and Josephine (Zalewski) Tarnowski. He served in the United States Army with the military police during the Korean War from February 10, 1953 until December 1, 1954. He was a member of Saint Bernard's Catholic Church of Irons, Michigan.

He is survived by his sister and brother in-law; Patricia and John Friedrich of Davenport, Florida and by his sister in-law; Bea Tarnowski of Detroit, MI. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.

George was preceded in death by his brother Donald Tarnowski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee with Reverend Pablo Martinez celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel cemetery also in Manistee, where graveside military services will be given by the members of the Manistee County United Veterans Council ritual squad. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday morning one hour prior to the Mass. The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
