Gerald
Grabowski
Jun 15, 1941 — Feb 28, 2021
Gerald "Jerry" Grabowski passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2021, at his home.
Jerry was born on June 15, 1941, to Casimir and Leona (Wrezinski). He graduated from St Joseph High School in 1959 and joined the United States Army where he served as a Specialist 4 th Class from September 9, 1959 until September 14, 1962.
Jerry began his career in the grocery industry in the late '60s, and for over 50 plus years, he worked for Kroger, Hammadys, Plumb's, Prevo's, and Family Fare. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Once he retired, you could find him "out at the cabin" with his best friend Ben Bifoss, watching deer, bears, and other wildlife. The cabin became his home away from home. He also loved to travel to Virginia Beach, VA, a few times a year to visit his daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids. Jerry was a simple family man and enjoyed the simple things in life.
Jerry is survived by his son Kevin of Genoa, IL and daughter Cindy (Adam) Westhoff of Virginia Beach, his beloved granddaughter Jamie Westhoff, and bonus grandchildren Morgan and Caleigh Westhoff, all of Virginia Beach, VA. He also leaves behind his sister Dorothy (Gary) Cameron of Free Soil, MI, numerous nieces and nephews...and also close friend Colleen Thompson of Manistee, MI, and his cat of 13 years, Angel.
Jerry is preceded in death by a son, Jamie, both parents Casimir and Leona (Wrzesinski) Grabowski, and brother Ronald.
A casual Celebration of Life for Jerry will be held on June 12, 2021, at the VFW Hall at 1211 28 th Street in Manistee. Guests are welcome at 1 pm, with Military Honors at 2 pm. There will be a light lunch to follow if anyone would like to stick around after and share stories of this amazing, loveable man gone too soon.
The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
