Geraldine "Gerry" E. Tomaszewski age 89, of Manistee, Michigan died Wednesday morning, January 9, 2019 at her home in Manistee.

She was born on June 3, 1929 in Muskegon, Michigan, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Tyler) Fillacy. She spent most of her childhood in the Brethren area moving to Manistee as a young woman to work. In April of 1947 she married Edward Tomaszewski. He preceded her in death in April 1976. Gerry was a hard worker all of her life, while raising her family doing the normal chores of babysitting, doing laundry and cleaning. Those that knew her many years ago, remember her catering dinners and banquets at the Manistee Eagles Club. In her later years, Gerry enjoyed bird watching, decorating and food shows and old westerns on T.V.

She is survived by 2 sons, Mark Tomaszewski and Dennis (Karen) Tomaszewski all of Manistee, MI, three grandchildren, Jason & Lindsay Tomaszewski and their children Hannah & Jillian of Portage, MI and Abby & Jon Radovich of Page, AZ, Ben Tomaszewski of Manistee, MI, her sisters, Donna O'Rorke of Manistee, MI, Norma Christensen of Winfred, Montana, Dolores Tuisko of Safety Harbor, Florida and Judy (Stanley) Putney of Benzonia, MI. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.

In addition to her parents and husband Edward, Gerry was preceded in death by a son Danny in 1952 at the age of 3, one grandson Samuel Tomaszewski, two sisters, Kate Carstens of South Bend, Indiana and Vera Gilman of Manistee, Michigan and a special aunt Grace Fredrich and many cousins. She was also preceded by her longtime companion and close friend Vince Magmer.

Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee, with Pastor John Brown officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home to receive friends, one hour prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that those wishing to remember Gerry consider a donation to a local charity of their choice.
