Irene Margaret (Petroski) Boonstra age 87 of Wellston, Michigan, died Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Nancy's House in Manistee, with her husband Russell at her side. She was born on November 22, 1937 in Elmira, Michigan, daughter of Frank and Catherine (Laskey) Petroski. Irene married Russell L. Boonstra on July 26, 1958 at Saint James Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a member of Saint Bernard's Catholic Church of Irons, Michigan.

Irene is survived by her husband of over 67 years Russell L. Boonstra of Wellston, MI, two daughters and son's - in-law; Patti and Jim Neubecker of Conklin, MI, and Cathy and Ken Bush of Coopersville, MI, two sons and daughter's –in-law; John and Mary Boonstra of Belmont, MI, and Fred and Kelly Boonstra of Lapeer, MI, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and her sister Evelyn Kolenda of Baldwin, MI. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.

Irene was preceded in death by her sister and by two brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 8, 2025 at Saint Bernard's Catholic Church in Irons, Michigan, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Matthew J. Barnum celebrant. Burial will follow at the Fernwood Cemetery in Dublin, Michigan. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday morning one hour prior to the funeral mass. The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
