Jean Ellen Jankwietz, age 77, of Manistee, died Wednesday morning July 15, 2015 at West Shore Medical Center.

She was born April 22, 1938 in Manistee, Michigan, daughter of the late Roy & Agnes (Peterson) Meister. She was a graduate of Manistee High School with the class of 1956. She married Donald R. Jankwietz on August 11, 1956 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Manistee. Jean loved spending time with her children & grandchildren, and in her younger years liked taking her children to the beach as well as bowling. She also enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley music. Jean was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Manistee.

She is survived by her husband, Donald R. Jankwietz of Manistee, MI, three sons & 2 daughters-in-law, Dave & Sandy Jankwietz of Manistee, MI, Dan & Connie Jankwietz of Filer City, MI and Jim Jankwietz of Clemmons, NC, nine grandchildren, Megan (Kiran) Vallakavi, Michelle Jankwietz, Kelly (Brenten) Vartyak, Katie Jankwietz, Emily Jankwietz, Ellen Jankwietz, Rick Smith, Crissy (Eric) Onstott & Bill Smith, eight great grandchildren, one sister & brother-in-law, Joanne & Andy Morch of Paradise CA. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening, July 21, 2015 at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee with Pastor John Hopper officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, from 7:30 p.m. until the time of services at 8:30 PM.

Final interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery of Manistee.
