Jennie Catherine Zajac , age 92, died at the GrandCare AFC Home in Custer, MI., on Sunday, March 4, 2018, following a long illness.

She was born January 22, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Catherine (Wrobel) Zajac. Her family moved to Free Soil when Jennie was one year old. She graduated from Free Soil High School in 1944, and shortly after graduation, moved to Chicago to seek employment. Jennie worked as an accountant at Piser Memorials of Chicago for most of her adult life, returning to the Free Soil area following her retirement. She was a member of Saint John Cantius Catholic Church of Free Soil. During her lifetime Jennie enjoyed golfing, bowling and traveling.

Jennie is survived by one brother and three sister's in-law: Richard and Margaret Zajac of Free Soil, Shirley Zajac of Manistee, and Jeanette Zajac of Ft. Collins, CO, Aunt Janka is also survived by, and will be sadly missed by fifteen nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant siblings Genevieve and Paul Zajac, brothers Walter, Casimir, Julian and Edward Zajac, sister and brother in-law Helen and Richard Serrell, and her nephew Joseph Serrell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Saint John Cantius Catholic Church in Free Soil with Reverend Dennis O'Donnell celebrant. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday morning, one hour prior to the funeral mass at 11:00 AM. Burial of Jennie's cremated remains will take place in the spring of 2018 at Saint John Cantius Catholic Cemetery also in Free Soil.

Memorial donations may be directed to Hospice of Michigan or Saint John Cantius Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the church on Saturday morning.
