Obituary

John J. Bradley, age 83 of Manistee, MI passed away on October 23, 2017 at Butterworth Spectrum in Grand Rapids, MI.

He was born on August 31, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania son of the late James A. & Helen (Kelly) Bradley. John married Patricia M. Witkowski on September 2, 1961 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. They have celebrated over 56 years of marriage together.

Throughout his life, he worked various positions as a computer programmer, mailman, and truck driver. He also retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. He embraced his adopted home of Manistee, served at the Divine Mercy Parish, and supported the various sports programs at Manistee Catholic Central. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a life member of the American Legion Post #10 of Manistee.

Although his daughter, son & family were not near-by, he and Patricia often visited them. Wherever he went, you'd be able to recognize him because he always wore an orange hat. He loved to go for walks and people watch. He also enjoyed yearly trips to Omaha to go to College World Series baseball games with his daughter.

John is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Cathleen, daughter-in-law Karen, and granddaughters Laik and Saij, and his sister, Sister Mary Helene.

He was preceded in death by his son John A. Bradley on September 3, 2010 and by his brother Jim Bradley.

According to John's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee where members of the Manistee County United Veterans Council will present military graveside honors.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday morning beginning at 10AM up until time of the mass at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in John's name for Manistee Catholic Central Schools. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and also at the church on Saturday morning.
