Joseph "Joe" John Helminiak, of Manistee, died of natural causes Saturday morning, February 13, 2021 at his home of over 50 years. He was born March 19, 1936 to John Edward and Pricilla "Sadie" (Adamski) Helminiak.

Joe was employed as a marine upholster at Fortier Industries Inc. He started there when he was eighteen years old, and he fell in love with the boss's daughter. Joe's favorite activity was to sit in his chair and listen to his family laugh while they played cards. He was known for his humorous stories of "the good ole days," his love of vintage cars, and for cooking delicious spaghetti dinners. He was a member of the Catholic Community of Manistee (Guardian Angels Parish) where he served as an usher. Joe was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joe's Civic Club.
