Joyce A. Case, age 88 of Brethren, MI died Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility in Manistee.

She was born on April 25, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio daughter of the late Lester & Evelyn (Burnett) Schmidt. She married Leroy (Casey) Case in Angola, Indiana. They were married for over 40 years before Casey's death on January 23, 1995.

In 1969 Joyce and LeRoy moved to Brethren where they were the owners and operators of Casey's Tavern, being the first liquor license in the area. They operated the tavern from 1969 until the spring of 1981 when they retired.

She was a loving "Grandmother" who loved spending time with her family. Joyce was an avid hunter, and enjoyed cooking and preparing dinners for her family and friends. She attended the Kaleva Baptist Church.

She is survived by 2 sons Jimmy St. John of Temperance, MI and Danny St. John of Brethren, MI, 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Linda & Mitchell Smith Sr. of Brethren, MI and Debbie & Jim Kubacki of Manistee, MI, 1 step daughter Jean Tout of Marathon, FL, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, 1 brother & sister-in-law, Ron & Donna Schmidt of Maumee, OH, her special friend and companion Gerry Winright Sr. of Brethren, MI. Several nieces and nephews also survive as well.

Funeral Services for Joyce will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee with Pastor John Brown officiating. Burial will take place following the service at Brethren Cemetery in Brethren.

The family will be at the funeral home to receive friends on Saturday morning one hour prior to the service.
