Cederholm
Sep 12, 1945 — Jul 11, 2026
Manistee
Kaye (Katie) Louise (Stypa) Cederholm, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed on July 11, 2026 at Medilodge in Traverse City, MI. Katie was born on September 12, 1945 in Manistee, MI, to the late Stephen Stypa, Jr. and Vivian (Maitre) Stypa.
Katie was preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother, Stephen Stypa III, and her sister Josephine (Stypa) Jay. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Raymond, her sister, Natalie (Stypa) Kelley, son Raymond Cederholm II (Nicole), and her grandchildren, Raymond and Carleigh, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many close, loving friends who feel her loss terribly, especially Pat and Cathy (Schulz) Kelley.
Katie attended Manistee Junior High School and graduated from Manistee High School in 1963. She attended Ferris State University and received an Associate's Degree in Marketing from West Shore Community College. She began her working life at the tender age of five, making boxes at her family's business, Holsum Bakery. She continued working there until she graduated from high school. It was there that she met her husband, Ray. Throughout the rest of her life, Katie worked at a variety of places and in various fields. She retired from Filer Credit Union in July of 2013.
Katie was a connoisseur of the simple things in life. She loved bowling, creating ceramics, gardening and nature walks, riding her bike, and hikes with her beloved dog, Bailey. Her most loved times were those spent with family and friends. Katie's cooking skills in all areas were legendary. Making a meal, whether it was a simple breakfast or an elaborate Christmas dinner, was her greatest expression of love.
Katie faced life's adversity with grace, determination, and courage, and her faith in God was deep and enduring. The world is better for her having been a part of it. Her memory and faith will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Guardian Angels Church in Manistee, MI with Rev. James Bearss as celebrant.
