Obituary

Laura Lynn Stacy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, was born in Manistee, Michigan, on Wednesday, March 18, 1970, the only child of Dennis Leslie and Kathleen Marie (Tabaczka) Cromer.  She passed from this life to her eternal home in heaven on Monday, April 12, 2021 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the age of 51.  It was Laura's love of family and deep faith that sustained her through her long and courageous, twenty-year battle with cancer.

Laura was the pride and joy of her parents and grandparents from the moment she took her first breath.  Their pet names for her were "doll baby" and "little topper".  As a young girl, she loved to share tea parties with her favorite doll sitting across the table from her.  It did not take long for the training wheels to come off her banana seat bicycle and Laura was hard to catch, pigtails flying in the breeze, from that point on.  She was active on the debate team in high school as well as an award-winning clarinet player in the marching band, stage band and orchestra.   She continued playing clarinet for Ferris State University marching band and symphony orchestra.  Even beyond college she played for several musical productions at the Ramsdell Theatre, and enjoyed performing in the Manistee Community Band as well as the Kentwood Community Band.  Her love of music continued as a member of her church choir and her participation in their Christmas plays.  After graduating from Manistee High School in 1988, she earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science (Administrative Assistant) followed with her Bachelor Degree in Business (Office Automation Systems) from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan.

She always enjoyed camping and vacationing with family and friends through the years.  Local lakes and state parks were some of her favorite travel spots.  She met Darol Stacy at the church they were both attending in Grandville, Michigan, in 2000.  They married a year later on July 27, 2001.  The two of them moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in September of 2011 and made their home there.  Laura worked as a Loan Documentation Specialist for Mabrey Bank at their Bixby, Oklahoma branch.  She was a very conscientious worker and was often called upon to train others on the job.  Words her family use to describe Laura are witty, fun, kind, gentle, friendly, travel navigator, and beach lover.  She loved sunrises, sunsets and sunflowers, as well as picking strawberries with her Mom and Dad.  She faced the world with her beautiful smile and hearty laugh.  She will be missed so very much by all who knew and loved her.

Laura is survived by her husband Darol of Tulsa, Oklahoma, her parents Dennis and Kathleen Cromer of Manistee, Michigan, Uncle Larry Tabaczka of Manistee, Michigan, Uncle Ron Tabaczka and his partner, Jeanette Spitler of Big Sky, Montana, Aunt Colleen and her husband David Berns of Manistee, Michigan, Uncle Jerry Tabaczka  and his wife, Jane of Manistee, Michigan, Uncle James Tabaczka of Grand Haven, Michigan, Aunt Lynn and her husband James DeOrdio of Arlington, Texas, Special Lifelong Friends, Wayne and Terry Johnson of Manistee, Michigan, and dear cousins: Kevin (Gretchen) Tabaczka, Ryan (Erin) Tabaczka, Katie Olsen, Diana (Steve) McIntyre, Aaron Tabaczka, Maureen (Bob McMaster) Tabaczka, Ken (Kerrye) Tabaczka, Christine (Michael) Garrett, Matthew (Rhonda) Berns, Jill (Nick) Barnum and Jenna Tabaczka (Andrea Ciochetti).

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Leslie and Marion Cromer, maternal grandparents Harry (Jerry) and Dolores Tabaczka, Aunt Karen Tabaczka (infant) and dear friend Helena Johnson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Divine Mercy Parish (St. Joseph Catholic Church) in Manistee with Reverend Zeljko Guberovic Celebrant. Final interment of Laura's cremated remains will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee.

The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday morning one hour prior to the funeral Mass.

The Touch of God's Love

Because I have known

The love of family and friends;

Because I have experienced

This life of truth and freedom;

Because I have seen

A bluebird on the wing;

I know I have felt

The touch of God's love.

(Poem by Laura's grandmother, Dolores Tabaczka)
