Lenida M. Sobaski age 87 of Ludington, formerly of Freesoil, Michigan, died Saturday morning, December 8, 2018 at her home in Ludington, Michigan surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 21, 1931 in Freesoil, Michigan and was the daughter of the late Edward and Julia (Maske) Karas. She was united in marriage to John R. Sobaski at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Freesoil on August 11, 1951. They had celebrated over 59 years of marriage together, before John's death on October 1, 2010 Lenida loved and instilled in her children and all she met that "things that matter most, come from the heart". She lived love. When you entered her home you became a member of her family. She was a phenomenal cook, readily whipping up a meal within minutes of your visit. She raised and of course, fed, excellent hunters and a university professor.
Of the many ventures in Lenida's life, being a "Mom" was the most precious to her. Her "Kids" were her everything. She was rejuvenated by her kids. All who visited learned quickly that if you commented you liked something, Lenida was sure to sneak it into your possession before you left her sight.
Her hobbies included, collecting beautiful glass, going to garage sales and crocheting. Lenida was a very active member of St. John Cantius Catholic Church of Freesoil and a member of the St. John Cantius Rosary Society.
She is survived by one daughter and son in-law, Sue and Dan Woods of Vestaburg, MI, four sons and daughters in-law, Jerard and Genny Sobaski of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Ed and Yvonne Sobaski of Freesoil, MI, Dan and Mari Anne Sobaski of Scottville, MI, and Chris and Cindy Sobaski of Freesoil, MI, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great – great
grandchildren, one sister and two brothers in-law, Joan and Ted Edel of Ash Fork, Arizona. and Robert Racalla of Grand Rapids, MI. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. Lenida was also survived by her lifelong special friend, Annie Hulita, many "adopted" children, especially Sally Chatfield and Patrick Archer, and several precious godchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John and her sister, Patricia Racalla, her brother and sister in-law, Donald J. and Mary Jane (Stamp) Karas.
