Leona Lorraine Amerell, age 97, of Manistee, Michigan, died Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility.

She was born on September 11, 1925 in Manistee, Michigan and was the daughter of the late Alfred and Margaret (Nice) Chichester.

Leona is survived by her son Walter DeWitt of Manistee, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Amerell, her sons; Joseph DeWitt, David DeWitt, Thomas DeWitt, and Paul DeWitt and her sisters; Sandra LaFleur and Kathryn Schultz.

According to Leona's wishes, cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Manistee on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jody Bambas officiating.

The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
