Mary Ann Johnson , age 76 of Manistee, Michigan died Sunday June 19, 2016 at the Bauer House in Manistee after a short illness.

She was born on November 25, 1939 in Manistee, Michigan daughter of the late Ewald & Blondine (Pogozelski) Swanson. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School class of 1957. Mary Ann married Robert P. Johnson on April 4, 1959 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. Mary Ann was employed for 14 years at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility and then was the manager of the Manistee Public Employees Credit Union until her retirement in 2002. She enjoyed water skiing, figure skating, swimming, and also taught swimming lessons. She was a member of the Catholic Community of Manistee and an avid member of the Manistee Golf and Country Club.

She is survived by her husband Robert P. Johnson of Manistee, MI, two daughters Janice & Dennis Waterman of Manistee, MI and Janine & Daniel DeLaat of White Cloud, MI, three grandchildren, Alex Waterman of Grand Rapids, MI, Michelle Johnson of Reed City, MI and Rachael DeLaat of Big Rapids, MI, one great grandson Brysen Lucas of Big Rapids, MI, her sister Suzanne & Bradley GeBott of Troy, MI. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.

Cremation has taken place and Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Friday, June 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee with Reverend Peter Wigton celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee.

The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, one hour prior to Mary Ann's funeral mass.

Memorials have been established in Mary Ann's name for the Catholic Community of Manistee. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and also at the church on Friday morning.
