Manistee

Obituary

Nanci J Hahn, 93, a lifelong Manistee resident, passed away at Green Acres in Lowell, Michigan on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

She was the first daughter of Alex and Clarabelle Mack, born July 20, 1932. Nanci graduated from Manistee High School, Class of 1949, having been crowned their first Homecoming Queen. Nanci was married to Edward H. Hahn for nearly 57 years prior to his passing in 2008. They began as high school sweethearts and enjoyed time riding around town in Ed's old Model T. Nanci enjoyed interacting with and serving the local farmers during her 35-year career as a program director for the U.S. Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. She was a lifelong communicant of Guardian Angels Church and Divine Mercy Parish. She was a proud and loving mother to her four children, grandmother of 14, and great-grandmother of 23. Nanci gave back to her community by volunteering for the PTO, Band Boosters, West Shore Hospital Auxiliary and Lakeside Club.

Nanci is survived by her Daughter Robin (Mark) Stone; grandchildren Christopher (Sarah) Stone, Kelly Stone, Kari (Chris) Stone-Sewalish, Kim Stone and Kourtney (Ethan) Allard; her Daughter Leslie Hahn; grandchildren Haley (Eric) Saya, Taryn Ezdebski, Kylie (Kellon) Petzak, her Son Tyler (Therese) Hahn; grandchildren Jordan (Julie) Hahn, Laura (Scott) Grant, Tanner (Stefanie) Hahn, Austin (Brooke) Hahn, and her Daughter Lisa Hankins; grandchildren Steven (Elizabeth) Hankins and Heather (Mike) Sims. Nanci was preceded in death by her only sister Alana (Bill) Neal in 2019.

Ed and Nanci built their lifelong home near Lake Michigan and close to Ed's Parkdale farmstead. Together they succeeded in creating an inviting and memorable hometown destination which is still enjoyed and cherished by many of Nanci's grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Nanci was recognized and expressed her love for her family and friends through the preparation of delicious food. She was so very proud of her South Manitou Island heritage and Hahn family legacy, that she published her memories and accounts to ensure these were passed down to the next family generations. Nanci was a woman who loved her family and community, and will be missed dearly by her family and those who knew her best.

The family is planning private Catholic services at a later date.
