Nancy D. (Smazel) Malik, age 88, of Manistee, MI died late Saturday night, February 20, 2016 at the Manistee County Medical Care Facility. She was born August 23, 1927 in Manistee, daughter of the late Clarence V. Smazel & Gladys (Wirth) Mallory. She was a graduate of St. Louis High School Class of 1945. Nancy married Edward F. Malik on July 20, 1946 in St. Louis, Michigan. Over the years Nancy and her husband lived in several areas of Michigan, including Stanton, Battle Creek and Jackson. Nancy and Edward then moved to Ohio until his death on February 29, 1972. Following his death Nancy returned to school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She then returned to Michigan where she was employed for several years at Michigan Masonic Home in Alma, Michigan. Following her nursing career, Nancy worked as a Clerk in the Alma area before returning to her hometown of Manistee.

Nancy enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Victorian Quilters at the Manistee Audubon Society for many years. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Walsh Post #4499 Auxiliary of Manistee and the Church Circle at the Manistee United Methodist Church.

She is survived by 3 daughters & 2 sons-in-law: Christine Malik of Manistee, MI, Nancee (Malik) & Larry Condon of Deming, NM, and Audrey (Malik) & Steven Cooper of Beaverton, OR; 1 granddaughter, April (Cooper) Martin of Klamath Falls, OR; 1 sister, Shirley Ankrom of Deming, NM; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and husband Edward F. Malik.

According to Nancy's wishes, cremation has taken place at her request, no services will be scheduled. Inurnment will take place alongside of her husband Edward at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, Michigan at a later date.
