Patricia L. (Schimke) Nowak, age 84 of Manistee, MI died, Monday evening, January 15, 2024 at Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital.

She was born on April 8, 1939 in Kaleva, Michigan daughter of the late Arthur and Selma J. (Mattson) Schimke.  She attended Manistee High School class of 1957.  Patricia married Carl J. Nowak on June 9, 1968. Carl preceded her in death on September 20, 2017.  She was employed as a seamstress at the Glen of Michigan until her retirement.  Patricia (and Carl) loved spending time with her children & grandchildren. They attended all of their granddaughter's scholastic and sporting events while they were in school. Her granddaughters and great grandchildren, who called her GG, were the light of her life.  GG had so much love for them. She said she could just sit and watch them for hours, and she did.  GG was loved very much and will be missed immensely.  She enjoyed flower gardening, decorating her home for the holidays, sewing clothes, baking and cooking for her family and in her younger years, traveling with her husband.  She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish of Manistee.

Patricia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. & Jill Nowak of Manistee, MI, granddaughters, Ashley & Aaron Weaver of Rapid City, MI and their son Myles Weaver and Chelsey & Chris Peplinski of Bellaire, MI and their daughters, Reagan and London Peplinski, a brother, Rick Schimke (Linda Wissner) of Manistee, MI and a sister-in-law Lucille Bronkema of Grand Rapids, MI.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene & Lyle Cunningham and Barbara & Dale Kott, her brothers and sister-in-law, Darwin and Barbara Schimke and Wayne Schimke, her father-in-law & mother-in-law Casmir & Lillian (Wilkosz) Nowak and brother-in-law & sister-in-law Frank & Delores Novak.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee with Reverend Mitchel Roman officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning one hour prior to the service at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee.
