Renate Elisabeth Edens passed away peacefully at her home in Manistee on Wednesday December 1, 2021 at the age of 74.

Renate was born to August and Elizabeth Krach, in Nurnberg, Germany on August 3, 1947. She spent her childhood in the village of Wolkersdorf in western Germany and moved to the Manistee area in 1965. She married her husband William (Bill) Edens on April 12, 1966 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Shrine in Manistee. Her loving and devoted husband of 55 years was by her side at the time of her passing.

She worked at Pomeroy Bottling Works before retiring after 36 years of employment at K-Mart. She enjoyed both international and domestic travel. She visited Jamaica, Spain, Italy, France, Austria, and made numerous trips to Germany. She also enjoyed yoga, water aerobics, trips to the casino and visiting with friends and family. She was a member of the Divine Mercy Parish of Manistee (St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Shrine Church).

She was preceded in death by her parents (August and Elizabeth Krach) and her stepmother (Resi Krach). Renate is survived by her husband William Edens, sister Monika Engelbrecht, children; Susanne Edens-Murphy (Steven Murphy), Cheri Edens, Aprill Rick (Jonathan Rick), grandchildren; Zak (Ellery), Paige, Payton, Kaiden, Landen, Madelyn, Harper, Brianna, and great-granddaughter Everly.

In lieu of a funeral, the family is planning a celebration of life to be held this summer, date and time to be announced.
