Reverend Gaylord Shimnoski, age 81 died Tuesday July 7, 2015 at the Curry House in Cadillac, MI.

He was born on February 10, 1934 in Manistee, Michigan the son of Harry & Julia (Olejniczak) Shimnoski. He did his classical studies in Grand Rapids, MI and completed his Ph.B. work at the University of Montreal, Canada. Afterwards he completed four years of Theology and he was ordained on June 6, 1959. Then he did post graduate degree work and attained a MA and PhD. He served at Catholic Central High Schools and Parishes in the Grand Rapids, New York and Kalamazoo Dioceses. In 2006 he retired back to his place of birth.
He was frequently called upon to help out at St. Edwards, St. Joseph's Onekama, Copemish and the churches of Manistee. He enjoyed long walks on the river walk each afternoon. He rarely missed a day.

Mass from The Order of Christian funerals will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. on Tuesday July, 14, 2015 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Manistee with Reverend Richard Schaeffer, Monsignor John Porter & Reverend Peter Wigton celebrants. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee. Relatives and friends will pray the Rosary on Tuesday morning at 10:15 AM at the Church where the family will receive friends on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. until the funeral Mass at 11 a.m.
