Reverend Richard Edwin Marbeiter age 92 of Manistee, Michigan died Saturday afternoon, November 18, 2017 at the Willowbrook Care Home in Scottville.

He was born on June 17, 1925 in Arcadia, Michigan and was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Eisfeller) Marbeiter. He served in the United States Navy during World War II from July 2, 1942 until December 17, 1945. Richard married Dorothy Louise Smeed on June 23, 1946 in Arcadia, Michigan. She preceded him in death on December 11, 2005 after 59 years of marriage. Most of his life was spent as the Pastor of the Assembly of God Church and driving school bus, until his retirement.

He is survived by three daughters and two sons in-law; Joanne and Roger Douglas of Montague, MI, Sylvia and Mark Bottje of Freesoil and Carolyn Avery of New Haven, Indiana, nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons Lawrence and Eugene Marbeiter and by his granddaughter Joyce Douglas Coulier and by his grandson Kevin Marbeiter and by his two sisters, Rose Pyne and Martha Nolf.

Visitation will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday November 22, 2017 at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee with Funeral services at 11 a.m., followed by military honors being given by the members of the Manistee County United Veterans Council Ritual Squad also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Thompsonville Cemetery in Thompsonville, Michigan. The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is in charge of funeral arrangements.
