Rita June Kolanowski age 89 of Manistee, Michigan died on Friday, December 16, 2016 at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee.

She was born on June 26, 1927 in Bear Lake, Michigan daughter of the late Charles M. and Elizabeth L. (Ditmer) Lentz. Rita married Donald A. Kolanowski on February 7, 1948 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2004. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Manistee. Rita enjoyed flowers and having them all around her home in the summertime as well as keeping up the flowers on the family lots at the cemetery. She enjoyed feeding the birds in her yard, reading Danielle Steele Romance Novels, loved dogs, especially black labs, even though she never had any dogs of her own. She loved to cook and bake, especially making sweets and cookies.

Rita is survived by her sister in-law, Helen Lentz of Bear lake, MI, and her brother in-law and sister in-law, Eugene and Doris Kolanowski of Manistee, MI. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Louise Kolanowski at the age of two years old, and by her two brothers, Alfred and Walter Lentz.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 2:30 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manistee with Reverend Denis Rahn officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery also in Manistee. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday afternoon, one hour prior to the funeral service.

A memorial will be established in Rita's name for the American Heart Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and will be available at the church on Tuesday afternoon.
