Roger Allen Sagala, age 74, of Manistee, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital. He was born September 9, 1951, in Manistee, Michigan, the son of the late Harold and Esther (Adamski) Sagala. Roger graduated from Manistee High School with the Class of 1969.

Roger spent much of his career working in drop forges across the United States. What began in Manistee eventually took him to Milwaukee, Ohio, Pittsburgh, and Texas. He took pride in his work and made many lasting friendships along the way.

In retirement, Roger returned home to the place he loved most—Manistee. He enjoyed spending time watching the freighters pass through town. For a time, he even operated the US-31 bridge to allow the ships to pass. Above all else, Roger was proud of his family. He could often be found stopping in to visit his sons at the dealership and at Chopos, always ready with a laugh. Some of his happiest moments were spent sharing stories from the "good old days" with his granddaughter Lily, and watching his granddaughter Bella dance, filling him with pride.

Roger is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, Scott and Lisa Sagala and Joshua Sagala, all of Manistee, Michigan; two grandchildren, Lily Sagala of Carmel, Indiana, and Isabella Sagala of Manistee, Michigan; his sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Robert Yates of Bear Lake, Michigan; his uncle, Norbert Adamski, of Manistee, Michigan; his cousin Sharon Roskoski, of Manistee, Michigan along with several cousins.

He will be remembered for his humor, his stories, and the many memories he shared with family and friends. He lived life on his own terms.

According to Roger's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Herbert Funeral Home of Manistee is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
