Vera Joan (Barker) Rutherford, 79, of Manistee, passed away at home on February 18, 2022.  Vera was born on July 10, 1942 in Carterton Close, Oxfordshire England to James & Daisy Barker.  She was one of 3 children.

She married Jack Rutherford while he was serving in the US Air Force at Brize Norton Air Base, Carterton, England.  They moved back to Michigan where Jack's family lived and together, they raised five children: James, Daniel, Richard, Julie and Heather.  Vera was a homemaker and managed the finances for the business she and Jack started in 1986, Action Termite & Pest Control.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents and brother James.   She is survived by her husband, Jack of 60 years, sons James (Melanie) Rutherford, Daniel (Diana) Rutherford, Richard (Kathy) Rutherford, and daughters Julie (Michael) Feliczak, and Heather (Jeffrey) Pefley; grandchildren Tristyn Rutherford, Alex Rutherford, Katie (Jeremiah) Fruk, Eric Rutherford, Justin Rutherford, Joseph Linke (Mike Eldersveld), Kayla Linke, Taylor Pietrasik, Zachary Pietrasik and six greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Joyce (George) Taylor as well as many close extended family members and friends.

Her family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Munson Heart Failure Program, Munson Manistee Cardiac Rehab, Dr. Katie J. Dye, Green Acres as well as the staff at Munson Healthcare Hospice for their care and support during Vera's last days.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Herbert's Funeral Home in Manistee.
