Wanda L. Monroe, age 73 of Manistee, Michigan died Tuesday morning September 6, 2016 at her home in Manistee surrounded by her family.

She was born June 22, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan daughter of the late Andrew and Alberta (Stowe) Porter. Wanda married Kenneth C. Monroe on November 18, 1961 at the First Baptist Church in Manistee. He preceded her in death on November 25, 2013. For most of her life Wanda was devoted to being a health care provider having been a supervisor at many of the area AIS Homes. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Judeen JoAnn White and Nicki Juleen Monroe, her son & daughter-in-law: Marvin & Lena Monroe, her grandchildren, Amanda Becerra, Andrew (Sarah) Monroe, Andrew Schultz, Benjamin Schultz, Tauni Minelli, Dominic Minelli, Talon Gutowski, Samantha Monroe and Kenneth Monroe and 13 great grandchildren. Numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews also survive her.

Wanda was preceded in death by her sister Penny "Pansy" Sadler and her brother William Porter.
Funeral Services for Wanda will he held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee with Pastor John Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Old Schoolhouse Cemetery in Brown Township, MI.

The family will receive friends at the Herbert Funeral Home on Monday morning one hour prior to the funeral service.
